An Idea ...    Candle In My Window is not a group, an organization or a charity. It's simply a message.

It was a great Christmas, in 2007.

It was a relief, being able to look forward to the holidays without the running around, the stress and having to
figure out how to get it all done.

It was a great thing to observe our children move from shaking their heads at first, to shrugging their
shoulders, to fully embracing an idea that would put others first. After a while, we heard them talking about
chickens in Uganda, bearing names of their friends, as they began to consider making gifts of good will rather
than expecting for themselves. It also brought out their best as they figured out how to give presents, in very
creative ways, that did not involve a lot of money.

Paige and I found out that we could be very content, simply accepting gifts of love and thoughtfulness,
knowing that many in other parts of the world had food, or medicine, or blankets, or the chance at a new start.

2007 Home Page about how it all started.

We now look towards next year. Will we have learned enough to remember? Will the "best Christmas ever"
resound in our hearts year after year. Would we be content to, maybe, find a place somewhere in the middle?
Have we been forever changed?

Our challenge to the rest of the world will be to try it.
